Carlos H. Christensen has over 40 years of experience in Private Equity, International Corporate Finance (US/Latam) and multiple hands-on successful expertise in Turnarounds and Distress Management in Latin America. Specialties Include: Due Diligence, Valuation and Negotiation of Acquisitions, Crisis Management, Financial Restructuring, Business Strategy Development, Management Coaching.
Mr. Christensen pioneered the Private Equity industry in Latin America. In 1987. As Senior Director/Corporate Finance for Argentina and Brazil at Continental Bank, he co-founded a team that successfully invested US$135 million in 16 companies in 5 Latin American countries.
From 1996 to 2003, Mr. Christensen served as Managing Director of TCW/Latin America Partners, a Private Equity joint venture with Trust Company of the West, and was involved in the organization, origination, analysis and negotiation of investments of a $225 million fund focused on Latin America. He was active in the governance and management of portfolio companies in Argentina, Brazil and the U.S. He managed turnarounds of distressed portfolio companies in the food and communications industries in Brazil, Mexico, and Central America.
Mr. Christensen’s operational sector experience stretches across: governmental and private sector financial services, pulp and paper, food processing, telecommunications, software, cosmetics, fashion, construction materials, petrochemicals, aerospace, oil and renewable energy.
Mr. Christensen’s financial industry experience includes two years as Deputy Head of the Latin America Corporate Finance Group at Banque Nationale de Paris, as well as various credit and risk management-positions at Banco de la Nación Argentina in Chicago and in New York during the 1980’s Latin American debt crisis.
Since 2004, Mr. Christensen founded a Latin American-focused private equity advisory firm, providing specialized tactical expertise to Private Equity firms, Private Investors, and Private Sector Companies on acquisitions, strategic planning and distress management.
Mr. Christensen was born in Buenos Aires and raised in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. He was based in New York for 25 years before relocating to Sao Paulo in 2004. Mr. Christensen holds an undergraduate degree in business and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.
