Multinational Shipping & Logistics Company
Strategic Advisory / JV Creation


Client: Leading multinational firm in the shipping, stevedoring and logistics industry (“Client”).

The Problem: Client had developed a strong international presence in multiple countries in Latin America and Asia but had been unsuccessful in entering the US marketplace. 

The Solution:  Carried out an extensive strategic examination of the Client’s core capabilities and built a strategic business plan focused on leveraging the Client’s strengths in delivering logistics services for the wind industry. Managed the process of forming a JV with a leading construction company in the Great Lakes Region.

Key Solutions / Deal Highlights

  • Performed strategic due diligence on Client in order to identify key differentiators that would translate to the US marketplace
  • Developed robust marketplace assessment focused on pairing Client strengths with market opportunities and geographies
  • Prepared detailed business plan and financial model built upon formation of local partnership
  • Identified target geographies and candidates; carried out initial due diligence and developed short list of candidates
  • Managed entire deal process including initial introductions, strategic analysis, negotiation and closing of joint venture with desired candidate
  • Provided ongoing strategic advisory and business development services to JV
