Strategic Advisory / Business Plan Preparation / Factory Financing


Client: Leading European solar energy component manufacturer (“Client”)

The Problem: Client needed to diversify manufacturing operations away from declining European market.  Needed assistance in strategic planning, execution and financing new North American venture.

The Solution: Team served as the Client’s internal strategic operational and financial advisor.  Managed entire process of bringing new manufacturing operations to the US.  Successfully financed 100% of production equipment purchase and installation.

 
Key Solutions / Deal Highlights

  • Prepared detailed business plan and strategy
  • Performed detailed analysis for new manufacturing facility location, financing and labor, local incentives (State, county and local) and other various local support issues (including cluster of similar companies, transportation, quality of life issues and taxes)
  • Executed roadshow covering 20 U.S. states, including extensive meetings with relevant officials and private enterprise leaders
  • Provided strategic advisory services focused on prioritization of selection criteria and selection of short list
  • Negotiated over $15mm in credits, grants and incentives from state and local governmental elements which supported 7 year bonds paying 4% (“AA-“ S&P rated); total investment of $20mm.
  • Assisted in securing LOIs for over 200MW in off-take agreements from leading utilities in the state
  • Signed multiple collaboration agreements with key stakeholders in the state, including other commercial entities, supply chain, universities and research centers
  • Provided advisory services to executive team for the identification and hiring of US management team
